Doug Lebda, the founder, chairman and CEO of LendingTree, died Sunday in an all-terrain vehicle accident, the company’s board of directors announced.
“We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Doug,” the board said in a statement. “Doug was a visionary leader whose relentless drive, innovation and passion transformed the financial services landscape, touching the lives of millions of consumers.”
Scott Peyree, the company’s president and chief operating officer, has been appointed as president and CEO, effective immediately. Independent director Steve Ozonian, who joined the board in 2008, will assume the role of chairman.
