Mortgage rates aren’t budging as Trump settles into office

Housing professionals have been waiting for a change of administration to see how mortgage rates will respond, but in the first week of President Donald Trump’s return to the White House, things have been quiet when it comes to the long-term costs of a home loan.

HousingWire’s Mortgage Rates Center showed that 30-year conforming rates averaged 7.16% on Thursday, unchanged from one week ago. Conversely, 15-year conforming rates have bounced around, rising as high as 7.46% before landing at 7.31% on Thursday.
