It was not a good start to 2016 for the stock market.
Stocks in the US followed markets in Asia and Europe lower to start the year deep in the red as the S&P 500 had its worst opening day since 2000 and the Dow had its worst first day of trading since 1932 (which, we think it’s worth noting, was an 8.1% decline against Monday’s more modest 1.6% drop.)
