The US lags behind other countries when it comes to enrolling kids in preschool, according to a report released Tuesday by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Education at a Glance 2017 found that only 43% of American 3-year-olds were enrolled in preschool, compared to 73% for the OECD average, which is comprised of 35 member countries.
For 4-year-olds, the US fell even further down the list, with 66% preschool enrollment, compared to 87% for the OECD average.
The only countries with lower levels of enrollment were Indonesia, Turkey, Switzerland, Canada, and Saudi Arabia.
